There was a five-vehicle accident Saturday at about 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 22 westbound at the Byhalia exit. Traffic was diverted for approximately seven hours. Five people were injured and transported for medical attention, according to Lt. David Taylor with the Byhalia Police Department. He said it all started when an 18-wheeler hit an SUV that was pulling another vehicle on a trailer. The truck ended up on its side to the right of the northbound lane. Two other vehicles trailing the initial collision were also involved. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Byhalia Fire Department also assisted.
