Historic structure being renovated

Work on the Hugh Craft Land Survey Office, adjacent to city hall, topped the discussion at a recent meeting of the Holly Springs Board of Aldermen.

The office is a landmark structure and is being restored under a Mississippi Department of Archives and History grant.

The May 16 meeting was led by vice mayor Tim Liddy in the absence of Mayor Kelvin Buck. It was the night of the run-off election for mayor of the city. Alderman Sharon Gipson was also absent.

The board talked about restoration of the historic structure built in the 1830s. It may be the oldest building in the city, according to public works director Clay Moore.
