William Evans

William Evans, 72, of Ashland, died November 20, 2016. He was the widower  of Mary Lou Evans.

Services were held at 12 noon on Dec. 3 at Hopewell No. 2 MB Church. Burial was in Palestine MB Church Cemetery. Rev. Danny Kimbrough officiated. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves five sons, William Lewis Evans, Antron D. Evans, Brandon M. Evans, Christopher J. Evans, Devaris D. Evans, all of Memphis, Tenn.; four daughters Shirley (David Jones) Evans, Lorraine Evans, Daisy Mae Evans (Calvin Jones) and Janica Evans, all of Memphis; a son James and daughter Paulene Gary of Washington, D.C., a brother, Leon (Barbara) Evans of Lamar; three sisters, Earnestine (Andrew) Scruggs of Lamar, Dorothy Brown, Barbara Moore, both of Memphis; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Evans and three brothers, Walter, Sam and Johnson Evans.
