Regena Matthews Perry

Regena Matthews Perry, 80, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died Nov. 8, 2016, at her home. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, the Mother’s Board and a former member of Beverly Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs. She was a retired nurse assistant in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on November 17 at Strawberry MB Church in Holly Springs with burial in Beverly Chapel CME Church Cemetery in Holly Springs. Rev. Willie Hoey officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves six children, Gwendolyn Haywood, Deborah Matthews, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Shirley Hamel of Chicago, Ill., Cynthia Haywood of Charlotte, N.C., Jennifer Haywood of York, S.C., Dana L. Perry of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Lillie Mae Oliver of Holly Springs, Flora Pierce, Marva Matthews, Sonia Mitchell, all of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Eugene “Slim” Matthews Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
