Russell Landreth Thompson

Russell Landreth Thompson, 69, of Aurora, Ill., formerly of Holly Springs, died Oct. 2, 2016, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. He was a member of Hamilton Chapel CME Church, a 1965 graduate of W.T. Sims High School, a Mason and Eastern Star Keystone Lodge #15, 32nd Degree Mason, Amistead Court #85 Heroines of Jericho PMWJ. He was a painter and carpenter at Champaign, Ill., and a tradesman in Aurora. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 8 at Hamilton Chapel CME Church in Waterford with burial in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Billy Williams officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He leaves his wife, Carol Ann Winston Russell of Champaign; two daughters, Catrena Sa’Landreth Thomson of Nashville, Tenn., Dezzeri Na’Shawn Thompson of Gurnee, Ill; two sons, Russell James Thompson of Chandler, Ariz., Victor Smith of Champaign; a stepson, Toni Winston of Champaign; five sisters, Pauline Walker, Irene Frame, both of Champaign, Margaret Myles of Altadena, Calif., Barbara Ward of San Bernardina, Calif., Evelyn Walker of Aurora; two brothers, John Thompson, Lawrence Thompson, both of Aurora; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
