Byhalia police go to 26 calls

The Byhalia Police Department responded to 26 calls during the past week.
Chief Gary Looney released the following report – miscellaneous, 5; escorts, 2; disturbances, 2; motor vehicle accidents, 2; assists, 2; medical, 9; and alarm calls, 4.
Byhalia police officers also made three arrests during the past week, according to Chief Looney.

Correction

There was an error in a story that ran on February 9 and headlined, “County to bid garbage pickup.”
The current contract for household garbage pickup is with Waste Connections Inc., not Waste Management as reported.
The newspaper apologizes for the mistake and is glad to set the record straight.
Supervisors and the county administrator are satisfied with the service provided by Waste Connections Inc.
“They’ve done a wonderful job and everything is quiet,” said Larry Hall, county administrator, whose office deals with household garbage complaints. “That’s a wonderful thing.”
