Holly Springs Ward 1 Alderman Bernita Fountain-Lowe has organized cooking classes for youth.
“It’s just something for the children to do for the summer,” she said. “They fellowship and learn something new. They can take what they learn to start a cake-baking business.”
Lowe said the project could also promote entrepreneurship.
It is her first time to organize a class for youngsters with two instructors, Andre Rankins teaching cakes and Constance Bean teaching biscuit-making and tea cakes.
Lowe bought all the ingredients and tools and a parting gift – monogrammed aprons. And the group held a tasting party at the end of the classes
