William Faulkner spent time in Holly Springs – visiting, hunting

Grant Graves, vice president of the Benton County Historical Society and an Ashland resident, shared some of the history of the Falkner family of Benton County.
He said his family has owned the same land for 100 years in Benton County. The stories of historic families are unbounded. Most everyone whose families have been connected to the land knows them.
He said that John Falkner, the younger brother of the world-renowned literary giant William Faulkner by two years, died in July 1963, while William died in July 1962.
