Weekend lightning causes widespread electricity outages
Unsettled weather moved into the area Friday evening making for a busy weekend for Holly Springs Utility Department personnel.
Lightning strikes were the biggest menace as scattered outages affected customers across the service area, according to HSUD General Manager Bill Stone.
Early Friday evening, a lightning strike caused a partial outage on the south side of Holly Springs near the South Holly Springs exit. Crews were able to resolve the situation quickly. About 7:30 p.m. Friday, an outage affecting about 90 customers on or near Pottery Road (Park Swain Road) in Benton County and Hardeman County, Tenn., was reported. Service was restored just after 9 p.m..
