Two suspects ID'd in shooting

A shootout in the 400 block of Bicycle Road near Holly Springs left three people injured with two suspects identified, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, and on arrival observed numerous assault rifles and pistols in a yard area along the road, he said.

Two wrecked cars, a gray and a black Infiniti with numerous bullet holes in the glass and car bodies, were at the scene, Dickerson said.

Two suspects are thought to have fled on foot, he said. The victims were taken by medical personnel to Alliance Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch and were later found to be in non-critical conditions.

Three assault rifles and two 9 mm handguns and ammunition were found on the ground or in a car, Dickerson said.

One suspect, Lamarcus Jones, 19, of the 400 block of Gordon Road, Holly Springs, surrendered to authorities at the Marshall County jail Wednesday night of last week, Dickerson said.

Jones was out on a bond on a previous charge of attempted murder in the Holly Springs area, he said.

Jones is charged with attempted murder in this recent incident as well, according to Dickerson.

The second suspect, still at large on Tuesday of this week, was identified by law enforcement as Javion Deshon Boxley, 23, of Humphrey Road in the south Red Banks area.

Dickerson said Boxley is being sought by U.S. Marshals with the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force.

The vehicles had many gunshot holes and the gray Infiniti also appeared to have struck a brick mailbox, the sheriff said. That vehicle, thought to have been used by the suspects, had numerous bullet holes and the rear window was completely shattered from projectiles fired into the car.

The other car, a black Infiniti used by two men who were transported for medical treatment for wounds, was wrecked on the front and at least seven projectiles appeared to have been fired from the inside of the vehicle, possibly from the passenger side, the sheriff said.

He said investigators believe the black Infiniti forced the gray car into the brick mailbox and apparently was being driven at a high rate of speed.

He said the two suspects identified were thought to have been driving the gray car. The two driving the black car were injured and transported for medical assistance, and one individual also struck by gunfire was in the yard.

The incident remains under investigation as further forensic evidence is collected, Dickerson said.
