Two Good Samaritans killed in traffic accident
Two people from the Byhalia area died while offering help to a man in a two-vehicle accident, according to coroner James Richard Anderson.
Anderson said the initial accident occurred just after 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the intersection of Highway 309 and Highway 302. He said two vehicles wrecked in the middle of the intersection. Two women got out of their vehicle to check on people who may have been injured in a black Toyota pickup headed north on 309. The pickup had come to a stop in the middle of the intersection, he said.
Anderson said a GMC pickup going west on 302 then hit the Toyota pickup, which in turn struck the two women, creating a second accident.
The person driving the GMC was transported to the hospital.
