Two charged with uttering forgery

On Friday, March 9, at approximately 1:39 p.m., the Holly Springs Police Depart­ment was dispatched to the Bank of Holly Springs at 160 South Memphis Street in reference to a fraudulent check.

Upon arrival, chief Dwight Harris said officers spoke to bank staff members who said two suspects had entered the bank attempting to cash a check on a local business.

Due to the amount of the check and the person attempting to cash the check being from out of town, bank employees attempted to verify the check’s validity.

After bank staff confirmed the check was fraudulent, police were called to the scene, Chief Harris said.
