Suspects charged in capital murder

Two suspects in the death of a Clear Creek Road residence September 6 have been arrested and charged with capital murder, according to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

Billy Cortez Galmore, 23, of the 200 block of Griffin Road, Lamar, is charged with capital murder in the death of Ronnie Wayne Dennis Jr., 29.

Also charged with capital murder in this case is Michael L. Penilton, 30, of Penilton Drive, Lamar, the sheriff said.

“The arrests come after a very, very lengthy investigation led by myself and investigator Kelly McMillen regarding this heinous death,” Dickerson said.

“The two suspects will be arraigned Wednesday in Marshall County Justice Court. We will ask the court, through our county attorney, that the two be held without bond due to the nature of the crime.”

Dennis was found lying face down and unresponsive Sept. 6 outside his residence in the 2600 block of Clear Creek Road north of Hudsonville on Highway 7. He had been shot one or more times.
