Suspect arrested in gunfire

A suspect from the Red Banks area has been arrested and charged in a May 11 late afternoon shooting in Holly Springs. No person was injured, according the police chief Grant Glover.

The incident apparently played out at the intersection of Gholson Avenue and South Center Street where 11 spent rounds were found in the street, apparently fired from a semi-automatic weapon.

Devonta Jefferson, 28, of the 100 block of Cunningham Road, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, Glover said.

“Technically, he was allegedly shooting at somebody in a car,” the chief said.

Jefferson bonded out at $50,000, Glover said.
