Subject arrested in fatal shooting
The Marshall County Violent Crimes Task Force is investigating a fatal shooting off Stewart Street in Holly Springs, Monday, according to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.
He said officers were called to a shooting shortly after 5 p.m. Monday where a male was shot three or four times and died on the scene.
A subject, Woody Terrell Faulkner, 43, of the 500 block of West Melody Drive, is in custody and charged with first degree murder, Dickerson said.
The victim was shot multiple times in the head, neck, and shoulder area and died on the scene.
A suspect weapon, a 40 caliber Glock semi-automatic handgun, was recovered.
Agents with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, the Holly Springs Police Department, and K-9 search dogs from DeSoto County, with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and with Mississippi Wildlife Game and Fish Commission assisted in the investigation, locating and retrieving shell casings and a firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
“A weapon found about 75 yards from the victim's body in the edge of a small wooded area may have belonged to the victim,” Dickerson said. “Video surveillance provided to investigators showed the victim was not armed at the time of the shooting. Prior to the shooting it was rumored the two men may have had a verbal altercation.”
The male victim, a 22-yearold, was from the 800 block of West Woodward Avenue, Dickerson said.
Stolen vehicles investigation
Two subjects have been arrested and a third is being sought in an investigation ongoing for several months, according the Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.
Larry G. Price, 61, of the 100 block of Ambrose Road in the Atway Community was arrested and charged with stolen property and felon in possession of a firearm May 18 at 10 a.m., Dickerson said. Price remained in jail awaiting an initial appearance, he said.
Also arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm and with receiving stolen property is Broderick Cassell Wright, 40, of the Ambrose Drive area, the sheriff said.
He already has outstanding indictments in Marshall County on charges of receiving stolen property and aggravated domestic violence, Dickerson said.
The stolen property included numerous vehicles taken from the Memphis, Tenn. Area.
Wright also has outstanding theft and aggravated assault arrests from Memphis, Tenn. Wright was picked up by Memphis authorities Friday. Marshall County has a detainer hold on Wright, so when his preceding charges in Memphis are completed, he will be extradited back to face charges in Marshall County.
The vehicles stolen from the Memphis, Tenn., area included a 2005 GMC pickup stolen from Memphis, a 2020 Dodge car, mostly stripped, the sheriff said. Stripped parts were placed on another Dodge car, he said.
A third suspect is being sought in connection with this investigation who will be charged with receiving stolen property.
A fourth suspect was arrested and charged May 15 with accessory to receiving stolen property and has made $5,000 bond, the sheriff said.
Investigators working on this case included Dickerson, LaDaryl Odum, C.J. Peters, Kelly McMillen, Jason Mills, Perry Pipkin, Charles Powell, Larry Rankin and patrolling officers working under the direction of David Cook. “All officers were a great help in this investigation,” Dickerson said.
Plea and sentencing Greg Golliday, 46, of Church of Christ Road, pled to a charge of manslaughter in connection with a shooting Aug. 9, 2024, on Brittenum Road, Dickerson said. Judge Grady Tollison sentenced Golliday Monday, May 19 to 20 years and to serve 15 years. Five years of Golliday's sentence was suspended by the judge. Golliday was arrested Aug. 10, 2024. Tollison also sentenced Golliday to restitution and 5 years probation.
His charge of first degree murder was reduced to manslaughter, the sheriff said.
