Street work on go

The Holly Springs Board of Aldermen has approved about 1.4 more miles of street improvements that will begin in the spring.

The work, which will bring almost 30 percent of roads in the city improved, will take place on Van Dorn Avenue in Holly Springs from Chesterman Street east to the city limits.

The projected cost of the project is $235,639. The board approved the measure and an additional $39,000 expected to stripe the resurfaced section.

Public works director Clay Moore said some sections will be milled, others will be given a one-half inch leveling lift of asphalt, sealed, and then another 1.5 inch lift of asphalt will be applied.
