Stone, Anderson reflect on budget woes

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors recently received a summary of important legislative issues.
Sen. Bill Stone and consultant Gary Anderson talked mostly about lack of funds for roads and bridges and for public schools, plus unfunded mandates.
At issue is the fact that state revenues fell below projected revenues for fiscal year 2016-2017. Stone said shortfalls came to about $169 million. That figure also stands after other measures were taken, such as sweeping dollars out of state agencies and budget cuts in agencies, he said.
