The unidentified skeletal remains of a person were discovered by kids riding in the woods on a four-wheeler Saturday, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson.
The remains were located in a wooded area near the Red Banks Exit off I-22 (Hwy. 78) around 4 p.m., he said.
The remains were collected and sent to the medical examiner’s office in Jackson to be examined by an anthropologist, the sheriff said. DNA and dental records are being examined to positively identify the person, the sheriff said.
Bits of clothing, shoes and a watch were also recovered.
