Two separate shootings that took place in the South Chesterman and Moss Avenue area are under investigation by the Holly Springs Police Department.

The first incident happened Saturday, Oct. 17 around 12:26 p.m. And no suspects have been identified, according to police chief Dwight Harris.

The victim was shot once in the face and once in the back and airlifted to the Regional One Health Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., where he underwent two successive surgeries, Det. Justin Holpe said. The victim, a 16-year-old male, is in stable condition, he said.

No weapon has been recovered, but eight spent 45 caliber rounds were found on the ground. The suspect fled the scene

following an altercation with the victim, the detective said, in a possible black Honda Accord estimated to be a 2003 to 2007 model.

Five juvenile witnesses on the scene described the vehicle as having a drive-out tag, shattered back glass and sunroof.

Holpe said the victim is from Holly Springs but the witnesses are not known to live in the South Chesterman Street area.

Chief Harris is asking anyone who has any information regarding this incident to call the police department at 662252-2122 and ask to speak to himself, assistant chief Darryl Bowens or any detective or officer.

All tips will be kept strictly confidential.

Monday shooting A shooting in the same area took place Monday, Oct. 19, around 12:47 p.m., Holpe said. No one was struck but three shots were fired. The suspect fled the scene in a black Nissan Maxima and was later apprehended at a residence on East Brooks Road by officers with the Shelby County (Tenn.) Sheriff’s Department, Holpe said.

He said information on SkyCop recorded the suspect’s vehicle and tag bearing a Marshall County license plate.

The suspect, Akevia Robinson, 25, of the 900 block of French Road, Byhalia, is charged with attempted murder, Holpe said, and was placed in custody at the Shelby County Jail’s east women’s facility at 6201 Haley Road, Memphis.

He said the victim knew the assailant and words were exchanged between the two women before the weapon was fired.

The victim, a 21-year-old female, is a resident of South Chesterman Street and Moss Avenue, Holpe said.

Anyone who has any information regarding this incident is asked to contact HSPD and ask to speak with investigators or the chief.
