Shooting suspects in custody; others sought

Three shootings, the first taking place Friday, Sept. 10, have disturbed the peace of mind of Holly Springs residents.

Police chief Grant Glover said the September 10 incident involved two people shooting at each other on Martin Luther King Drive.

Roy Vaughn Jr., 19, of the 400 block of Bicycle Road, Holly Springs, is being sought on a charge of attempted murder, Glover said.

Monday, Sept. 13, a second shooting incident on Salem Avenue involving two subjects led to an arrest. Rodney Brown, 21, of West Park Street, Holly Springs, is in custody under $100,000 bond and charged with aggravated assault, the chief said.

Malcom James, 24, of Tulip Cove, Byhalia, is being sought on an aggravated assault charge, Glover said.

A third shooting Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 4:45 a.m. On Spring Ridge Cove was deadly.

“Tarnard Mosley was gunned down at the entrance to his doorway,” Glover said.

Tony Johnson, Jr., 21, of Randall Drive, Holly Springs, is in custody held under $1 million bond and charged with murder, Glover said.

Cassel Vaughn, 31, of West College Avenue, Holly Springs, is also being sought on a charge of murder in the case, Glover said.

These shooting incidents are connected with personal grudges, relationships and/or possible drug involvement, the chief said.

“We will not tolerate any shooting in this city,” Glover said. “Our people need to be able to feel safe, be able to sit on their porches, or go shopping without fear. If a shooting takes place in this city and we find out about it, you are going to be charged,”

Glover thanked citizens for providing tips law enforcement officers need to identify and locate suspects in criminal cases.

Man charged with child molestation

James House, 57, of Shelby Drive in Holly Springs, has been charged with child molestation of an 8-year-old, Glover said. The incident took place September 15, the chief said. House is in custody on $50,000 bond, he said.

Four-wheelers Glover also advised speeders and reckless drivers on four-wheelers their vehicles will be towed if they are caught. “There will be no favoritism given in these incidents,” he said. “We still need tips from the community to solve these incidents. We are going to hit them in their pocketbooks.”
