Serendipity saves a life
“God really does put people in the right place at the right time,” said firefighter and emergency medical technician Adam Stone.
He is a volunteer firefighter and assistant chief with the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and works at a full-time job with the Southaven Fire Department.
“Today (Thursday, Oct. 18) as Mt. Pleasant firefighters were getting ready to deliver a fire safety program to children at H.W. Byers, a worker collapsed in the cafeteria and went into cardiac arrest,” he said. “Firefighters were able to start CPR and apply an AED within less than about two minutes from the time she collapsed.”
Members of the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department had just pulled up in the back to teach the class. A person met them in the parking lot alerting them to the emergency.
