Safety Fun Day exposes Marshall County students to careers
The 2026 Safety Fun Day was held at the beautiful Marshall County Fairgrounds again this year with students from fifth grade getting an up close look at possible careers. Impressionable, they were allowed to get up close looks at law enforcement, emergency response, forestry and utility department equipment. The were given an opportunity to look, touch and listen to the equipment these agencies operate and get to ask questions.
One student asked sheriff’s deputies if guns were legal, for example. The Wildlife Fisheries and Parks provided samples of animal furs that could be touched.
Some children got to stand in the doorway of an Airwings ambulance.
A few students got to take a lift in the Holly Springs Fire Departments 100-foot ladder truck.
Each year, fun day selects four schools to participate and the schools rotate to cover both city and county schools.
