Professionals trained to recognize abuse of minors

Marshall County School District hosted an eight-hour seminar that drew 50 professionals from across the community to learn how to detect children who have been sexually abused and how to help protect them.

The seminar was held at The Apothecary in downtown Holly Springs and it was The Apothecary’s maiden voyage, according to owner Lisa Liddy. She said the seminar was seamless, and the venue was well equipped for PowerPoint presentations with screens accessible to all.

Brenda Bailey, with the school district, said a federal grant made the seminar possible.
