Pre-pay for utilities discussed

Craig Hutson, co-owner of Exceleron, a company that partners with utilities that have autometering systems, was recently invited to talk to the Holly Springs mayor and board of aldermen.

He sought the utility’s approval to institute a prepay system for its customers, who would benefit by paying their bill in advance in small weekly increments.

Hutson said many workers get paid on Friday and it is hard for them to save up enough money to pay their utility bill in one lump sum at the end of a billing cylce. Prepay would make it smoother for those customers to keep up with their usage and get back into the black side of the register.
