Potts Camp parade, holiday décor contest successful

Potts Camp’s second nighttime Christmas Parade included floats, horses, bands, Santa Claus and much more, all to the enjoyment of spectators lined along Church Avenue.

The town’s parade was held Tuesday night, Dec. 5.

There were several floats, a tractor, decorated golf cart, horses and riders, pony and rider, antique cars, Pride of Potts Camp Band and Color Guard; Holly Springs High School Band and Color Guard; Potts Camp cheerleaders; Boy Scouts; and Potts Camp’s rescue unit and tanker truck.

Providing music and serving as emcee for this year’s parade was Greg Campbell.

Leading the parade and walking behind the town’s police car, driven by David Pannell, were members of Boy Scout Troop #43, under the direction of Scoutmaster Casey Hillmer.

Floats included “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” by Town of Potts Camp aldermen and employees; “The Grinch Stole Christmas” by Mayor Herbert Luther and family; Potts Camp Bank’s “National Lampoon Christmas Vacation” (first place winner); The Polar Express by Family Medical Clinic (second place winner); “The Island of Misfit Toys,” Dollar General Store’s entry (third place winner).

Santa Claus riding atop the Potts Camp Fire Truck ended the parade to the delight of the children.

Following the parade, Santa Claus, The Grinch, and Cindy Lou Who, along with town officials, visited with community members at town hall. Santa greeted everyone and had his picture taken with the children.

Winners of the Holiday Décor Contest were also announced by Campbell.
