New Scott air packs

The new air packs provide 45 minutes of air as opposed to the older ones in service that provide 30 minutes, Crane said. The air packs are equipped with alarm system and strobe light that goes off if the firefighter does not move for 16 seconds, to let he firefighters know when a person is down. The audible alarm starts off as a low warning and gets louder and faster the longer the downed firefighter does not respond. A strobe light also flashes to let partners know the location of the firefighter so the person can be rescued.
