National Day of Prayer
The community, town leaders and clergy came together to pray for the unity of the community and the county Thursday, May 4, at the National Day of Prayer program held at Byhalia Walking Trail Park. The Rev. M.J. Pope, Lt. Col. Ret. Bill Fitts, Rev. Sam Jones, Rev. Michael Johnson, Rev. Andrew Cheairs, and Rev. Leland Johnson led the community in prayer and Amazing Grace was sung acapella by Angie Clayton. “Where there is unity there is strength,” Rev. Cheairs said. “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20 KJV). Shown left, Fitzgerald ‘Bud’ Richmond and the Rev. Andrew Cheairs pray with the community.
