More than 100 children living in Marshall County in custody of Child Protection
David Chandler, commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services, was the guest speaker for the April 19 meeting of the Holly Springs Rotary Club.
He was invited by Rotarian Gary Adams. Chandler is a former State Supreme Court justice, who left the court in December 2015 to run Child Protection Services.
Chandler said progress is being made in the state’s foster care system but there’s still a lot of work to do. The system is designed to protect abused and neglected children in state care. And he said giving the foster children the care they deserve is the first priority.
