Mobile food pantry serves 1,200 people monthly

Local churches and organizations are providing a mobile food pantry once a month, every second Mon­day, at the Eddie Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Build­ing and every last Wednesday in the month in DeSoto County.

Laura Grisham, with Sacred Heart Southern Missions, and Bishop Robert Davis, with Davis Temple Outreach Ministry, are key organizers of the monthly mobile pantry, which has 446 certified households serving approximately 1,200 people monthly.

The food allotment is enough to feed the members in the household for one week.

Volunteers help distribute the food to recipients who drive around the Multi-Purpose Building and never have to get out of their cars.
