Mishap causes outage

About half of Holly Springs Utility Department customers were without electricity as the result of a couple of issues Wednesday of last week.
Initially that morning, the South Substation on Neely Avenue was tripped due to an accident during construction of a new line between Holly Springs and Ashland. Bill Stone, general manager of HSUD, said a crane snagged a distribution line, and when it snapped, it came in contact with a transmission line.
“It tripped the whole substation out, not just that line,” Stone said.
