MDOT projects advance in Marshall, Benton counties

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) reports that crews are progressing on key road and bridge projects in Marshall and Benton counties.

In Marshall County, work is moving forward on the replacement of five bridges along state Highway 178. The clearing of trees is nearly complete, beams are being set on one bridge, and bridge piles are being installed for two other bridges. The $15 million project, awarded to SteBil Grading Inc. of Waterford, is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2028.

MDOT is additionally installing a cable rail barrier along I22 in both DeSoto and Marshall counties. Foundation work is complete, and crews are reshaping slopes and pouring paved aprons. The $15.2 million project is expected to be finished in the fall of this year.

In Benton County, MDOT says the state Highway 704 bridge replacement is nearing its final stages. Earthwork, sod installation and driveway reshaping are underway, with asphalt placement and handrail installation still to come. The $2 million project, also awarded to SteBil Grading Inc., is expected to wrap up this summer.
