March 15 storms bring outages and flooding to county

Marshall County dodged the tornado bullet Saturday but took hits from flooding and power outages on Saturday morning, March 15.

Several water rescues and blocked roads from floodwaters were reported by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

Whitten Road from the 600 block to the 1266 block was blocked by floodwaters and closed at around 11:30 a.m. While a water rescue was conducted.

Another flooding was reported at 10:56 a.m. On Farley Road in Barton when a second water rescue was made due to a vehicle accident.

Power outages were reported on North Red Banks Road and Lofton Lane Saturday from 9 a.m. To about 3 p.m. And one resident on Taska Road reported being out of power for 30 hours.

At 12:34 p.m. A power line was reported down in the area of Roper Cove.

Snow Lake residents reported a power outage at 8:44 a.m. Saturday and power remained out for six hours. A Lundine Road resident reported a 35-hour power outage affecting approximately five households.

Northcentral Electric Cooperative said crews and system operators worked throughout the early morning hours to restore outages and called in additional personnel at daylight to work 16 separate outage cases affecting 242 members.

Mt. Pleasant sustained more damage to the power grid with three poles having to be replaced.
