Long time South Reporter employees retire
Two longtime employees of the South Reporter have retired after long and distinguished careers with the newspaper, helping inform the Holly Springs area and Marshall County
Production Manager Barbara Taylor and Staff Writer Sue Watson combined nearly 70 years of service to the newspaper. They announced their retirements to the staff during the last few weeks.
Taylor, in charge of design and layout of the newspaper as well as advertising placement, joined the newspaper shortly after graduating from high school and remained until her retirement.
Watson, who came to the South Reporter more than two decades ago, was tasked to cover local news and events, law enforcement, city and county government.
During an approximately two-year period of time between editors, Watson and Taylor became the backbone of the operation. Watson was covering news, writing stories, shooting photography, and putting stories. They then determined story placement and Taylor would have those items ready for print, while placing advertisements, classifieds, contributing writer contributions, and other items for publishing.
