Law enforcement torch run

Law enforcement and emergency workers from Holly Springs Fire and Police departments and the Byhalia Police Department completed a 17-mile trek from Byhalia to Holly Springs Monday, May 9, carrying the Flame of Hope.

Worldwide, the Law Enforcement Torch Run, (LETR) is the largest public awareness vehile and grassroots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Annually, more than 97,000 dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry the flame, symbolizing courage and celebrating the diversity of uniting communities around the globe.

Law enforcement officers in Mississippi use off-duty time to support athletes and programs, and basketball tournaments. Those monies help homegrown athletes and their communities.

Monday four torch runs were made in North Mississippi. The event will end on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
