Jobs abound all over county

Need a job? Odds are, you can find one in Marshall County.

“We’re in a really good position right now from an industrial standpoint,” said Justin Hall, executive director of the Marshall County Industrial Authority. “There are jobs, in manufacturing and distribution, and those include entry-level positions and supervisory positions.

“Welders, machinists, engineers, equipment operators, maintenance technicians, inventory clerks you name it, the jobs are out there.”

And there are jobs available in all communities, from Holly Springs to Byhalia to the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park.

“We have good, quality opportunities right here at home,” Hall said.

Many of the job opportunities are advertised via a full page ad in this week’s Profile Edition of The South Reporter.

He said many are looking to re-enter new fields of work due to losing their jobs in the service industry and at other businesses during the COVID pandemic. Some are looking to work closer to home. Others are looking for a career change.

“These are local jobs,” Hall said. “You don’t have to commute to places like Memphis (Tenn.) or Tupelo.

“All across the board, from the smaller industries to the big ones, they offer very competitive wages. And these are companies that invest in their people — excellent benefits, too.”

The Marshall County Industrial Development Authority has also been working with the schools concerning job opportunities at home.

“We’ve been talking with the superintendents, principals and counselors, and they’ve been very engaging,” Hall said.

“Some students want a two-, four- or six-year degree, and others want to go to work on day one after their high school graduation.

“We certainly encourage advanced education, but we want those students to know that they can come back home. There will be good opportunities here for them after college.

“Others are ready to go on a career path when they leave high school. That’s available, too. A lot of these industries have opportunities geared toward the student worker.”

The wide open job market in Marshall County is also leading to more rooftops.

“There’s a lot of new housing construction underway, and that’s exciting,” Hall said.

“With job opportunities, there’s more of a demand for houses. Good job opportunities and quality housing available will grow your community.”

He said many spec homes are under construction by builders in Marshall County, and even more should crank up as the year 2021 progresses.

“It’s great to see improvement in the quality of life throughout the county with these excellent job opportunities,” Hall said.

“The future is bright.” For more information on job opportunities in Marshall County, contact the WIN Job Center at 662-851-4190 or visit www.mdes.ms.gov.
