Hummingbird Celebration ‘a massive success’

Unofficial numbers show more than 7,000 people attended this year’s 20th Hummingbird and Nature Celebration at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center in Holly Springs. An estimated 300 birds were banded this year, according to Mitch Robinson with the center. Last year’s attendance was estimated at 6,000 visitors. “It was a massive success on every front,” Robinson said. “The butterfly/monarch exhibit was expanded this year and was almost as popular as the Hummingbird banding.” (Above, left) Brian “Fox” Ellis portrays John J.
