HSUD customers experience outages

Electricity clicking off and on Tuesday, Oct. 12, was caused by a right-of-way crew trimming trees, according to George Humphry with the Holly Springs Utility Department.

He said a limb got across two circuits on East Boundary Street in Holly Springs.

Shutdowns and back-ons were reported at Kirkwood National in the morning around 11 and again at 2:35 that afternoon and also at The South Reporter. Outages were long enough for computers to shut down at both places. A similar problem was also reported by a customer at Potts Camp on Facebook, according to Jennifer Barkley at Kirkwood.

Kirkwood was one area also affected, Barkley said.

On Friday, Oct. 15, numerous circuits were down across the area, according to a report on the HSUD facebook page.

The cause of outages in the affected areas Potts Camp, Laws HIll, Waterford, South Red Banks Road, Lake Center, Highway 4 West, Kirkwood National and numerous customers in the city limits was due to a tree that fell across two circuits on Chulahoma Avenue at Woodland Heights, according to an HSUD website report.

The tree weighed down the power lines, causing a fracture of the light pole near the intersection of West Boundary Street and Chulahoma Avenue.

HSUD reported the outage at about 10:30 a.m.

The cause of outages in the Highway 310 area near Laws Hill Friday, Oct. 15, that stayed off in one residence from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday is not known. Several customers on 310 reported outages.

Inquiries to HSUD to learn the cause of the outage were unsuccessful.

Barkley also reported the electricity clicking on and off at Kirkwood again on Tuesday morning of this week.
