House on Bonner sprayed with bullets

A house on Bonner Street was sprayed with projectiles in the early morning hours Wednesday, according to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

Officer Coya Jackson responded to the 911 call reporting numerous shots being fired into the residence in the 200 block of Bonner Street in Holly Springs, the sheriff said.

Jackson was joined by uniformed officers of the Holly Springs Police Department to initiate an investigation, the sheriff said.

It appeared the house had been sprayed with two dozen or more bullets, some penetrating the house.

There were numerous adults and children in the house at the time of the incident, he said, including a woman in a wheel chair who got out of her chair to avoid being struck.

Numerous shell casings were retrieved from the street area, he said. There is a good possibility several weapons were fired into the house, among them possibly a .223 caliber rifle, the sheriff said.

“One or more members in the house did return fire toward the shooters firing into the house,” Dickerson said.

No suspects thus far have been identified. The investigation is ongoing by members of the Marshall County Violent Crimes Task Force who are aggressively pursuing the identification of suspects, the sheriff said.

A room in the southeast corner of the house sustained about 8 bullet holes where a male occupant was sleeping, he said.

In other business, the sheriff said Casey Elijah Jeremiah Henson, 36, who was taken into custody Monday, Feb. 10 after assaulting his girlfriend and barricading himself and his son in his house, made an initial appearance in Marshall County Justice Court on a charge of aggravated domestic violence, Dickerson said. Bond was set at $100,000. Dickerson said even if Henson makes bond there is a warrant out for his arrest in Georgia. Georgia has said they will extradite Henson to face one or more felony charges there.

“He has a very, very lengthy felony criminal record in Georgia where he has been charged and he has spent time in prison there for violent behavior,” Dickerson said.

Drug arrest

Deputy Coya Jackson is credited with observing a vehicle parked on the side of Lenderman Road off Highway 72 west of Mt. Pleasant and making an arrest.

Dickerson said Jackson observed a vehicle that looked suspicious parked in the edge of a field around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Jackson observed a white male seated in the driver’s side of the car and smelled marijuana, the sheriff said. A semiautomatic handgun was within reach and over two pounds of a substance consistent with marijuana was seized.

The suspect was immediately removed from the car and the weapon and drugs seized.

Harrison Maxwell White, 22, of the 2200 block of Evelyn Avenue, Memphis, Tenn., was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and distribute, Dickerson said.

The weapon was fully loaded with 10 hollow point rounds of ammunition in the magazine, the sheriff said.

The vehicle was impounded and a king-sized clear plastic bottle containing sprite and lemon lime liquid with a mixture of codeine was recovered, he said. A mixture of THC mixed with syrup was also removed from a backpack in the vehicle.

White made an initial appearance in justice court Feb. 12 and was given a bond of $100,000.
