Gloria Jones retires from medical field

Gloria Jones retired from Methodist Medical Group-Hawkins effective November

30.

She has dedicated herself to serving and helping others for more than 41 years as a lab technician, medical assistant, and patient care representative in Holly Springs.

She was employed by Alliance Health Care from 1977 to 1998, and then by Dr. Benjamin L. Hammack from 1998 to 2004. For her next employment, she never left 491 Craft Street, working at Cockrell Family Medical Center, Hawkins Family Medicine, and then Methodist Medical Group.

Jones has helped with dozens of care plans and projects, seen thousands of patients, and has had hundreds of blood draws even from the most difficult of patients.

“Gloria has served this community unselfishly with patience, dedication, reliability, faithfulness, and compassion,” said Dr. Cassandra Hawkins. “She has engaged in phenomenal work during her career and has created extraordinary memories.”

A retirement luncheon was held in her honor at Colton’s Steakhouse in Olive Branch on November 26. Family, friends, and co-workers showed their appreciation and shared memories of and wishes for her at this event.

Jones is a member of Byhalia High School Class of 1971 She is married to Warrick Jones, and she is the daughter of S.P. and Bessie Crockett. She has three children, LaTonya Iwuamanam, Temecha Jones and Karvis Jones, and one grandson, Noah Jones.

“We will miss you and wish you the best, Gloria,” Dr. Hawkins said.
