Fugitive caught in Holly Springs

A fugitive wanted on a number of felony charges was arrested Thursday, June 11, around 10:30 a.m. at America's Best Value Inn in Holly Springs, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

He said an operational plan put together by five law enforcement agencies executed a warrant for the arrest of Demontarius Dequan Dilworth, 23, of the 1200 block of Wall Hill Road, Byhalia.

"It all went very, very well," said Maj. Kelly McMillen, with investigations at the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect, wanted by Memphis, Tenn., authorities, was charged with criminal attempt to commit first degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, Dickerson said.

Dilworth was booked in Holly Springs and then transported to Memphis.

"We also received information this suspect is also wanted in Atlanta, Georgia," the sheriff said. "We know he fled from Atlanta to Holly Springs where he was taken into custody without incident."

Agencies contributing to the execution of this operation plan included the U.S. Marshals, the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force, the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Marshall County Sheriff's Department and the Holly Springs Police Department.
