Four-lane section of 72 opens in county
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently opened the final four-lane segment of U.S. Highway 72 in Marshall County.
Construction on the 4.2-mile segment between State Route 302 and the Tennessee state line began in February 2016. The approximately $29.4 million project included constructing two new lanes, a new interchange at Industrial Road and the realignment of Cayce Road.
“The four-lane project on U.S. Highway 72 will relieve congestion and promote safety,” said commissioner Mike Tagert, Northern Transportation District. “It will also increase connectivity with the Interstate 269 corridor.”
