The old county superintendent of education building on East College Avenue has been sold to David Person of Holly Springs.
Person was the only bidder on the structure which at one time was a hotel. The building was appraised at $80,000.
The Marshall County Board of Supervisors accepted Person’s bid of $71,000.
Supervisors then discussed some issues with Rep. Bill Kinkade, questioning how the local prison does not pay a fee-in-lieu tax as did Wackenhut, the first operator. The agreement with Wackenhut was to pay Marshall County $80,000 a year.
