Elections June 6

Municipal elections are less than two weeks away in both Byhalia and Potts Camp.

Voters in those two Marshall County towns will go to the polls Tuesday, June 6, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Absentee voting is now available at both the town halls, Byhalia and Potts Camp, during regular business hours. Also, the offices will be open the next two Saturdays, May 27 and June 3, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon for absentee voting. The deadline for absentee voting in person is Saturday, June 3, at 12 noon.

In Byhalia, incumbent mayor Phil Malone is unopposed. Running for five aldermen positions are seven candidates – incumbents Mary Ann Cooper, Joe Tunstall, Mike Hamblin and Daylon Cannon, plus Rick DeBardeleben,    Delainer Richmond and William Rose. Alderman Richard Minor is not running for re-election.

In Potts Camp, mayor Mary Houston is not seeking re-election. Candidates for mayor are Herbert “Herb” Luther, Angela Williams and Robert West. Luther and Williams are currently serving on the board of aldermen.

There are only five candidates for alderman in Potts Camp, meaning all will be elected. They are Annie Allen, Deborah “Deb” McCullough, incumbent Dollean “Doll” Porter, Sabrina Porter and Johnny Westmoreland.
