Driver’s license renewal available at courthouse

The long-awaited driver’s license kiosk is now installed at the Marshall County courthouse.

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors and Sen. Bill Stone requested the kiosk to save area residents the drive out of the county to a driver’s license station.

The kiosk is the second one the Department of Public Safety has installed in a courthouse, according to John Hillhouse, with the department. He said this unit came from Tupelo and the state has no funds to purchase any more. The units are very costly.

The state has 18 stand-alone kiosks like this one installed. Others are stationed inside driver’s license stations. Kiosks are used in busy driver’s license offices like Nesbit, Hillhouse said.
