Developers discuss flooding problem with supervisors

The developers of a subdivision met face-to-face with the Marshall County Board of Supervisors and engineer Larry Britt to iron out problems with flooding in the Carriage Manor Subdivision during heavy downpours.

Dean Long and his business partner, Doug Stalling, ironed out the differences.

Board attorney Kent Smith prefaced the discussion by saying the problem at the subdivision is flooding and inadequate retention of flood waters.

The floodwaters would jump over curbs and flood yards and run down the streets. Pipes in the driveways - 15 inches diameter - are half-filled with sediment and not large enough for the water to get off quickly. Driveways made of asphalt or concrete were poured over these pipes and it would be very costly to replace the pipes.
