County moves forward on park projects

Phoenix Fabricators, low bidder on an elevated water tank to be located near the Niagara Bottling facility in Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park, is the provisional winner of the contract subject to funding.

Justin Hall, executive director of Marshall County Industrial Development Authority, said $600,000 has been received from the Appalachian Regional Commission and state Development Infrastructure Program (DIP) funds would be used to make up the difference. The $620,000 bid came in $85,000 over engineer estimates because of the cost of steel is going up, the main cost to build it.

He said Niagara committed to 38 jobs, but the state said it needed more job commitments from Niagara.

Mississippi Development Authority is willing to commit 90 percent of the money if Niagara could offer 48 jobs
