County approves safety project at request of coroner

Marshall County Coroner James Richard Anderson requested automatic locking doors at the morgue and ambulance service offices after he was surprised by an intruder who came in off the street to use the bathroom.

He said he wants a panic bar so it is easy for personnel to go out but locks automatically when the door is shut.

Anderson told county supervisors he is in his office at odd hours in the night when he often goes in to write up reports and catch up on paperwork. There are three doors that open to the outside that need automatic locks, he said.
