Conflict leads to murder charge

One woman was shot and killed and another critically injured during an incident involving three individuals Saturday morning in Victoria.

Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said deputies were called to the parking lot of a convenience store at 59 Victoria Road at 9:30 a.m. in reference to a shooting.

"Our investigation revealed that two females got into an altercation and one pulled a gun and shot and killed the other," he said. "We believe that both women were dating the same guy and that is what led to the altercation and the shooting."

Dickerson said a male, who was at the scene with the victim who was killed, then pulled a gun, shot and wounded the other female.

Sharonda Wooten, 23, of the Marianna Road area, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the sheriff. He said she was shot twice, once in the head and once in the right knee.

Tierra Isom, 25, of the Johnson Park area in Holly Springs, was airlifted to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., following the incident and remained in critical condition Monday. She is charged with one count of first degree murder, Dickerson said.

Isom was shot at least three times during the incident, he said.

Maj. Kelly McMillen said the male subject has not yet been charged.

"He was released pending our investigation," he said. "We are waiting to get a statement from him, through his attorney."

The sheriff's department has video footage from the business, but it doesn't show the entire incident, McMillen said.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is encouraged to call sheriff's department investigators at 662-252-1311.
