City schools funds for repairs, upgrades

The Holly Springs School District is asking for a special bond of $1.1 million to run over a period of no more than 10 years, according to superintendent Irene Walton Turnage.

The 2017 Limited Tax Note will not cause an increase in taxes, she said.

“Holly Springs School District is authorized by MS Code 37-59-101 to obtain a limited tax note which shall not exceed an annual tax levy of 3 mills. This is not a new note,” Turnage said.

“The district has used this note in the past for ongoing maintenance of all schools and to purchase buses. This bond will be primarily used for the roof repair of our older school buildings and for buses.”
