A busted water pipe disrupted the first week of school for students at H.W. Byers Elementary School.
Lela Hale, superintendent of education, said the school flooded overnight on the third day of school being open (August 8).
Bernard Norman, maintenance person at the school, found the source and immediately shut off the water.
“All maintenance personnel from across the district were called in and worked toward pumping out the water,” she said.
